San Diego Coastal Endocrinology Office Visitation Policy for COVID-19

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, San Diego Coastal Endocrinology is concerned about our patients’ health and preventing the spread of the virus in the community. In order to offer our patients and staff a safe and healthy environment, we need to follow CDC guidelines and practice social distancing while at the same time, providing our patients the care and support they need during these times. As a result, we will be reducing in person appointments and transitioning to phone call appointments starting, Monday, March 23rd. Hopefully, in the future we may be able to offer Tele health/video+audio appointments.

DO NOT come to the office if you have: Fever, Shortness of Breath, or a Cough. Instead notify your PCP. We do not have the ability to test you for COVID-19.

For patients with upcoming appointments nothing changes except, instead of having your appointment in person, in our office you will have a phone call appointment. For example, if you already have an appointment with us on Monday, March 23rd at 8:00 am you still have that appointment scheduled, the only difference is it will take place over the phone. Our staff will be calling you 1-2 days before your appointment to confirm your appointment and confirm the telephone number you want the phone visit to take place on. If you need to reschedule your appointment or have a change in insurance please call our staff ahead of time to reschedule thus, opening up appointment times for urgent patients. You can also use Follow My Health to contact our staff to change or schedule your appointment.

For patients that need to speak with a provider regarding their health, those having symptoms of their disease or need to review labs with a provider, please notify our staff and they will work with you to arrange for a phone call visit or “drive by visit.”
For patients that feel they need to see a provider in person or if a patient’s provider feels a phone call appointment is not sufficient, in person appointments will be available, but will be limited. Patients that do come to the office will not be allowed to bring others with them, only the patient will be allowed into the office. Those accompanying the patient will be asked to stay outside and practice proper social distancing.
All patients that have an appointment for Thyroid Ultrasound or thyroid biopsy will be rescheduled to a later date.

We highly recommend that patients use Follow My Health, a patient portal that will let you get in touch with a provider, see your recent lab results and request medication refills. If you are not currently signed up for Follow My Health, please call our office and our staff will help you sign up. It is easy to sign up for Follow My Health, all the staff needs is your email address to send you the link.

Thank you for your patience and understanding in these unprecedented times. We hope to be operating normally as soon as possible and will continue to keep you updated on our status and in person appointments. Staff will be available during office hours to take your calls.

Stay safe, healthy, wash your hands often, and practice social distancing
